During the 2024–2025 academic year, Dome Digest—Immaculata’s internal weekly e-newsletter, featured fun polling questions that gave a peek into the minds of Immaculata’s students, faculty, staff and IHM Sisters. From snacks to sports to spirituality, we covered it all, and now we’re sharing the results so you can see what your fellow Mighty Macs are thinking!

An overwhelming number of people chose Gabriele Library as their favorite hangout spot, proving once again that Macs love quiet corners and group study rooms. Back Campus came in second, likely favored by those who enjoy fresh air and sunshine between classes.

Food was a major talking point (no surprise there!). When it came to favorite snacks, pretzels and cookies/candy tied for the top spot. For Sunday breakfast, eggs with bacon or sausage beat out pancakes—sorry, carb fans! In honor of St. Patrick’s Day, shepherd’s pie took the crown for favorite Irish dish, with Irish soda bread coming in second place.

And while IU’s dining hall hits the spot most days, sometimes you just need to head off campus. The top choice for a bite beyond the dome? Nudy’s Café, by a landslide, followed by the Classic Diner.

Sports-wise, when the Philadelphia Eagles flew into the Super Bowl, we asked who would win. The IU community narrowly predicted a win for the Birds, although nearly 25% predicted a blowout win. As for mascots, the Philly Phanatic kept the top spot, but Gritty is creeping up in popularity. Watch your back, Phanatic!

When it comes to screen time, the IU crowd showed major excitement for both “Mission: Impossible – Final Reckoning” and “Fantastic Four: First Steps,” but the real buzz was around the return of Netflix’s “Squid Game.” For Valentine’s Day, the campus picked “10 Things I Hate About You” as the perfect rom-com to share with loved ones. Christmas movie debates raged on, but “Home Alone” took the top spot for holiday favorites, followed by “Elf.” And yes, according to our community, “Die Hard” is definitely a Christmas movie. Yippee-Ki-Yay!

Netflix crushed the competition as the favorite streaming platform. TikTok just barely edged out Instagram for the top social media spot. (Gen Z wins again!) When it comes to tunes, Immaculata rocks, as rock music was the most popular genre, followed by pop and country.

Seasonal trends also caught our attention. The top New Year’s resolution was getting physically fit, followed by the noble task of decluttering. Over spring break, most hoped to finally catch up on work (we believe in you!). Dream summer vacation destination? Europe. And when the winter chill sets in, most of us are happy to stay bundled up indoors.

Following Pope Francis’s death, many on campus said they would remember his legacy for promoting inclusivity and diversity. During Lent, the majority of poll participants chose to add a positive practice rather than give something up, which is just another way the IU community spreads good into the world.

So, what do all these results say about Immaculata? That we’re curious, creative, community-minded and never turn down a good snack!
