Message From President Lettiere
As I enter my fifth year as president of Immaculata, I extend my appreciation for all who have supported me and the University. You are part of the excellent team I have had the pleasure to work with.
In this issue of the Immaculata Magazine, you will read about why students came to us. You will also discover what they have accomplished after their time here–– A shining example is Mary Beth Westmoreland, now vice president for brand protection at Amazon—the largest online retailer in the world. You can also read about alums who are leading Fortune 500!
My focus has always been on the students, and I will continue to make them the top priority of the University. One of my greatest pleasures as president is getting to know our students. I have found that an easy icebreaker is simply to ask the students where they are from. They usually answer with locations from all corners of the globe, and sometimes I am surprised to learn how they got to Immaculata.
What is it about Immaculata that makes people feel at “home under the dome?” For one student, her interaction with a friendly, supportive and knowledgeable admissions counselor and academic advisor convinced her to choose IU without setting foot on campus! For me, the journey to Immaculata brought me from my hometown of Trenton, New Jersey to Chester County. The 50+ miles between my home and my new college home provided me with a sense of independence along with the reassurance that my family was still close by.
Of course, no matter how far you travel from the Noble Hill, you are always an Immaculatan. I hope this issue of the Immaculata Magazine will inspire you to get back onto campus and that you plan to attend the Centennial Weekend festivities October 8-9, 2021. The time has finally come for us to be able to get back together to celebrate. Good things are happening here and we look forward to seeing you. In the meantime, please stay well.
