Percell Whittaker ’02 M.A., ’15 Ed.D., has helped schools adopt more equitable practices to serve diverse communities and has helped students access special and gifted education.

Staged as a four-car collision with multiple casualties, the simulated accident scene helped Immaculata students practice their life-saving skills during realistic chaos.

Immaculata’s Learning Support Services provides curriculum-based support for students that includes peer tutoring, the writing and math centers, academic coaching, and academic accommodations through the Disability Services Office.

Tim and Anne McCarthy, long-time Immaculata employees, lived simply and helped untold numbers of students get a Catholic education. They noticed students’ unpaid balances and quietly paid them off.

In fall 2022, Immaculata opened its new Applied Technology Lab, which is designed for students majoring in fields such as information systems, cybersecurity and data analytics.

Last summer three students completed an Army Advanced Camp training. When they graduate from Immaculata, they will be the first students from IU to be commissioned as officers in the U.S. Army and sworn into the Pennsylvania National Guard.

Though it has evolved over the years, Immaculata’s campus newspaper has always been created by students, enabling them to gain professional experience.

Having spent 50 years working for Pennsylvania Power and Light, Marge Gill ’74 is now dedicating her time serving on the Alumni Board of Governors at Immaculata.

Colleen Ciavola ’08 M.A. uses her degree in counseling psychology to offer motivational and practical housekeeping tips in her book, “Dancing with Housework.”
